Fans are buzzing about the latest update from CID Season 2, as Shivaji Satam is officially returning to reprise his iconic role as ACP Pradyuman, just weeks after his supposed death in the show.
On April 5 and 6, CID viewers were hit with an emotional bombshell as the beloved character was killed off — a twist many found too jarring to accept. A new ACP, played by Parth Samthaan, quickly filled the void, but the audience made their disappointment clear.
According to reports from an Indian news media, the backlash against Pradyuman’s exit was so intense that the creators had no choice but to backtrack. The decision was made to revive the character in upcoming episodes — and not in a subtle manner. Sources suggest a dramatic re-entry sequence is being planned, complete with a “back-from-the-dead” narrative twist.
The return of Satam also hints at something else — was his exit ever permanent, or was it a cleverly orchestrated publicity stunt to generate buzz around CID 2?
Parth Samthaan, who joined the show as the new ACP, shared his thoughts with Hindustan Times:
“I was initially hesitant to take the role. The idea of senior cast members addressing me as ‘sir’ on screen felt awkward.”
Though Parth took on the role with gusto, it appears his time as CID’s lead investigator may now be limited — or possibly evolve into a supporting arc alongside Satam.
Shivaji Satam himself had expressed excitement earlier this year about CID’s long-awaited return:
“It feels surreal to return as ACP Pradyuman after six years… We promise a thrilling ride filled with suspense and heart-stopping drama.”
With the character's resurrection now on the cards, the show is leaning into fan nostalgia while trying to reinvent its legacy for a new generation.
The revival of CID, which originally ended in 2018 after a legendary 20-year run, launched in 2025 with Season 2 and is currently streaming on SonyLIV and Netflix.
Fans can expect Satam’s return to air in the coming weeks.
