Caretaker Information Technology (IT) and Telecom Minister Dr Umar Saif on Friday revealed the date of 5G launch in Pakistan.
The minister also conveyed optimistic news about the nation's IT export potential in the Middle East.
He announced the signing of memorandums of understanding with three Qatari companies, which would pave the way for significant growth in the sector.
Dr Saif further elaborated on the upcoming launch of 5G technology in Pakistan, scheduled for July 2024.
He assured proactive measures to address the concerns of telecom companies regarding the 300 MHz spectrum allocated for 5G services.
He stated that the government is actively working to resolve any outstanding issues.
The minister announced the establishment of a telecommunication tribunal within three weeks, aiming to provide a dedicated platform for resolving disputes within the sector.
Additionally, an action advisory committee has been formed to oversee the smooth implementation of the 5G rollout plan.
The government is also in the process of hiring a consultant to provide expert guidance on the project.
Dr Saif emphasized the critical role of women's participation in decision-making processes and underscored the need for equal opportunities in business endeavours.
He acknowledged the government's ongoing initiatives to support women entrepreneurs and highlighted the importance of empowering rural women as a key driver of national development.
