Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat refused on Saturday to participate in the boycott of the anti-polio campaign, despite the decision made by the tribal elders.
The elders of the Marwat tribe had earlier declared their intention to boycott the polio eradication drive in the district. They had linked their protest to the release of the kidnapped employees of the Qabul Khel factory, insisting that the campaign would remain suspended until the abductees were freed.
Marwat, however, distanced himself from this decision, asserting that he could not support an act that would harm the children of his community. "I cannot commit an injustice against the children of the Marwat tribe by endorsing this boycott," he stated firmly.
The MNA further remarked that while he stood with his people in every other struggle, he could not support a move that jeopardised the health and future of the young generation. "I will stand with my people on every front except this boycott," Marwat declared.
