Sports commentator Ali Younis said that it will be “shocker” to see all-rounder Khushdil Shah into the Pakistan national cricket team for the Champions Trophy on the basis of his few performances in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) or Champions Cup.
Expressing his thoughts on Samaa Digital programme, “Zor Ka Jor,” Younis, who is the brother of former bowling legend Waqar Younis, said, “There still exist speculations about Khushdil Shah’s return to the Pakistan national cricket team for the Champions Trophy. I hope he [Khushdil] will not play as an opener.”
“We can still see Khushdil batting at the number six or number seven. The captain generally brings those players into the playing XI with whom he is comfortable,” the sports commentator added.
He maintained: “During his captaincy, Babar Azam had brought Shadab Khan into the team because he was comfortable with the leg-spinner.”
“In the same way, maybe Mohammad Rizwan is comfortable with Khushdil Shah, as both the players play for the same region in the domestic cricket circuit,” said Younis.
