The Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises and management discussed on Sunday direct signings for the 10th edition of the domestic marquee tournament.
According to details, key details from a recent meeting between the PSL franchises and management had emerged to ensure the success of the forthcoming season.
Both the parties [PSL management and franchises] emphasised the importance of contacting the top foreign players as they cited limited time for preparations.
Sources divulged that the PSL management proposed direct signings of players and sought approval from the franchises.
The franchises made it clear that they had no objections and had already begun approaching players. They agreed that any direct signings should serve the league’s interests.
The management informed franchises of its ongoing communication with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to secure permission for players to participate in PSL matches. A favourable response was expected soon.
Franchises stressed the need for financial support from the PSL management to bring high-profile players to Pakistan.
They confirmed initial discussions with prominent international cricketers and expressed confidence in attracting big names for the upcoming season.
The PSL management announced that the drafting for Season 10 would take place on 11 January.
