The Excise and Taxation Department has announced strict measures against vehicle owners who have defaulted on token tax payments.
Starting January 1, 2025, the registration of vehicles belonging to tax defaulters will be cancelled, according to Excise and Taxation Director Bilal Azam Khan.
The director urged citizens to settle their dues immediately to avoid legal consequences. A 15-day grace period has been granted to defaulters to clear their token taxes.
"If registration is cancelled, a 200% penalty will be imposed for its restoration," the director stated.
The department emphasised its commitment to enforcing tax regulations and appealed to vehicle owners to ensure timely payments. "Citizens are encouraged to deposit token taxes immediately to avoid inconvenience or penalties," Director Bilal Azam Khan said.
