The recent protests in Islamabad by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters have raised serious concerns after videos of armed groups wielding modern weaponry surfaced on social media.
The footage shows individuals firing tear gas shells with alarming precision, fueling suspicions of a well-coordinated operation.
Reports suggested that these were not ordinary protesters but trained individuals equipped with state-grade modern weapons, typically reserved for law enforcement.
This revelation has sparked widespread debate over how such weaponry ended up in the hands of civilians and whether government resources from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were misused to supply them.
The organised nature of the attacks, targeting security forces, including Rangers and police, has left several officials martyred and injured. Public property was also severely damaged during the unrest, amplifying the severity of the situation.
The most pressing question remained: "Who facilitated the provision of government-grade arms for use against law enforcement?"
Experts believed this could indicate a deliberate strategy to destabilise law and order in the federal capital.
