Veteran Indian filmmaker Rakesh Roshan is currently focused on his role as a producer. In an interview, he confirmed that while he will produce the upcoming superhero film 'Krrish 4', starring his son Hrithik Roshan, he has decided to step away from directing.
“I don't think so I'll be directing any further. But I'll surely be announcing Krrish 4 very soon,” Rakesh stated.
Earlier this year, speculation arose about 'Krrish 4''s direction when filmmaker Siddharth Anand, known for 'Bang Bang', War', and 'Fighter', reposted a fan-made image of Hrithik in the 'Krrish' costume on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “He’s coming back,” and added, “Yup he is.”
The *Krrish* franchise began in 2003 with the sci-fi film *Koi Mil Gaya*, directed by Rakesh Roshan. It transitioned into a superhero series with *Krrish* (2006) and *Krrish 3* (2013), where Hrithik portrayed both Rohit and his son Krishna, aka Krrish. The franchise has featured an ensemble cast over the years, with Preity Zinta opposite Hrithik in *Koi Mil Gaya*, Priyanka Chopra in the two *Krrish* films, Rekha in the first two parts, and Naseeruddin Shah, Vivek Oberoi, and Kangana Ranaut in pivotal roles.
Apart from *Krrish 4*, Rakesh Roshan plans to re-release some of his iconic films. His 1995 blockbuster *Karan Arjun* will hit theaters again on November 22, followed by the potential re-release of his 1988 revenge drama *Khoon Bhari Maang*, starring Rekha and Kabir Bedi. He also hinted at celebrating the 25th anniversary of *Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai* in January 2025.
“Every film might not work. But surely, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai is also going to complete 25 years in January (2025). This (Karan Arjun) was also in January, but I couldn't clash the two films together so I pre-poned this release. And there are many films releasing in January,” Rakesh shared.
