Pakistan has successfully tested its local technology of artificial rain.
The 'cloud seeding' technique was tested in Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, and Gojar Khan, due to which rainfall was experienced in Jhelum and Gujar Khan, as confirmed by the Met Department.
Experts revealed that the cloud seeding operation at 2pm resulted in rainfall in Jhelum and Gojar Khan a few hours later. They noted there was a strong likelihood of rainfall in Lahore due to the effects of cloud seeding.
According to details, the artificial rain experiment involved the Pakistan Army's scientific research and experts, as well as efforts of the Army Aviation, SUPARCO, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Punjab government.
Experts emphasized that the artificial rain would help combat smog and alleviate the environmental problems faced by the region, particularly during the winter months.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz congratulated the relevant institutions and experts on the successful experience of artificial rain. "Today, with your hard work, dedication, and ability, Punjab has made history. The whole nation is proud of you," she remarked.
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said: "Alhamdulillah, there has been some good news in the form of rain. The artificial rain was experimented with the cooperation of the UAE last year. But this time, 100% local skills and technology were used for the successful experiment."
