An assistant sub-inspector from the Kot Momin police station in Sargodha and his accomplice have been arrested in the case of allegedly raping a matriculation student.
A case of the incident was filed at the Kot Momin police station. According to the first information report, the student's father was arrested by the police a few days ago. The ASI took the girl's number at that time and stayed in touch.
On Saturday, the ASI's accomplice lured the student to a secluded location on the pretext of discussing the case, and forcefully dragged her into a car from the main road. He then took her to a house on Muazamabad Road and allegedly raped her.
The ASI also reached the spot later and committing the same crime. Both suspects tortured the minor as well.
Following the assault, the suspects left the student outside her cousin's house late at night and fled. The victim's family subsequently filed a complaint with the Kot Momin police station, leading to the registration of a case against the ASI and his accomplice.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took notice of the incident and directed the authorities to ensure that the suspects are brought to justice. She also sought a report from the Punjab IGP after which both the suspects were arrested.
An inquiry team consisting of the SP investigation and Kot Momin ASP was also established formed.
