Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi has been appointed as the Chairman of the Islamic Ideological Council (IIC), according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice on Tuesday.
The appointment was made by the President of Pakistan following the completion of Dr Qibla Ayaz's three-year term in April.
Dr. Naeemi, a prominent religious scholar, currently serves as the Imam of Jamia Naeemia, Lahore. He is also the chairman of the Muttahida Ulema Board Punjab, and a member of both the Quran Board Punjab and the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Additionally, Dr. Naeemi holds syndicate memberships at Punjab University and the University of Agriculture, enhancing his academic and scholarly credentials. His appointment is expected to bring a wealth of knowledge and a balanced perspective to the council.
The Islamic Ideological Council is a constitutional body responsible for advising the government on Islamic laws and ensuring that the country's legislation is consistent with the principles of Islam.
