The creator of 'Dragon Ball Z', Akira Toriyama, the most favorite and popular manga author, has died at the age of 68 years. The Japanese manga artist passed away as results of complications from acute subdural hematoma, internal brain bleeding announced by his studio on Friday.
Dragon Ball Z was created in the year 1984, it is a story of Son Goku's mystical journey to collect dragon balls to protect Earth against destructive forces. Toriyama's work expanded beyond the pages of manga to animated series and movies, and it touched the hearts of fans all over the globe.
Fans from all over the world paid tribute and expressed their appreciation for his work and characters that inspired their childhoods. Toriyama's demise left unfinished projects, that shows his dedication towards creativity he had in himself.
According to a statement on the Dragon Ball website, he died on March 1 and his burial was attended solely by his family and a few close friends.
"He would have many more things to achieve. However, he has left many manga titles and works of art to this world," his studio said.
"We hope that Akira Toriyama's unique world of creation continues to be loved by everyone for a long time to come," it added.
On social media, an outpouring of condolences flooded in, with fans expressing their appreciation for Toriyama's contributions to the world of manga and anime
"Thank you for creating a manga that represents my youth. Rest in peace, thank you for your hard work," read a post on X, which instantly got 500 likes.
"His legacy will live on forever. Thank you for creating the most iconic anime character of all time Akira," another user wrote.
