In a surprising turn of events, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has taken the decisive step of expelling Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Abbasi from the party.
The former Chief Minister, Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan, recently announced his support for Ali Khan Jadoon, a PTI-backed candidate and the son of his long-standing rival, former federal minister Amanullah Khan Jadoon, in the NA-17 constituency.
The expulsion comes as a result of Sardar Mehtab Abbasi’s violation of party discipline, leading to his termination of party membership. The notification, issued by PML-N General Secretary Ahsan Iqbal, confirmed the disciplinary action against the senior League leader.
This political shake-up unfolded a day earlier, causing ripples in the political landscape of Abbottabad Constituency NA-17. Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, a discontented leader of the PML-N and former Chief Minister, publicly declared his support for Ali Khan Jadoon, aligning with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf's candidate and the son of his 35-year rival, Amanullah Khan Jadoon.
Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan has now positioned himself as an independent candidate in NA-16 Abbottabad 1. Simultaneously, he is fielding independent candidates in the provincial constituencies of Abbottabad, challenging PML-N candidates.
Notably, his political endeavors include contesting against former Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi in the NA-16 Constituency, who holds the position of Provincial General Secretary of the PML-N.
