The district administration and the education department also supported the school initiative of the police, the spokesman said, adding that initially, 52 transgenders were enrolled in the school.
The purpose of the school was to provide the basic right of education to transgender people, the police spokesperson said, adding that the Rawalpindi police had also established Pakistan's first Transgender Protection Center.
The center has provided jobs and dignified employment to more than 100 transgenders, the spokesperson remarked.
The Rawalpindi police's initiative to provide regular school classes for transgenders sets a commendable example for other institutions and communities in Pakistan. By promoting education and inclusivity, they are paving the way for a more just and equitable society where everyone, regardless of gender identity, has access to equal opportunities and a chance to thrive.
