The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has blocked the identity cards of 18 PTI leaders who were declared proclaimed offenders in the May 9 cases.
The suspects include Murad Saeed, Azam Swati, Hammad Azhar, Aslam Iqbal, Karamat Khokhar as well as Ali Amin Gandapur, Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, Jamshed Cheema and others.
The process of blocking the identity card was implemented at the request of the police, Nadra officials claimed, while police officials said the suspects cannot get legal rights without appearing in the anti-terrorism court.
The national identity cards of the suspects will remain blocked until further investigation, the officials said further.
The proclaimed offenders will be deprived of all facilities available through an ID card, police officials maintained.
