Pakistani law enforcement agencies have confiscated more than 1,077 metric tons of illegal narcotics and arrested 2,565 suspected drug traffickers in a nationwide anti-narcotics operation launched in September 2023.
The ongoing operation has yielded significant quantities of various illegal substances, including 5.392 metric tons of heroin, 69.6 metric tons of hashish, 5.459 metric tons of methamphetamine, 141.300 kilograms of opium, and 164.534 metric tons of other narcotic substances.
In the past week alone, authorities reported the seizure of 3,005.7 kilograms of various drugs and the arrest of 67 suspects. Recent operations resulted in the confiscation of 2,680.9 kilograms of heroin, an equal amount of hashish, and 39.722 kilograms of methamphetamine.
Additional seizures from the past week included 50.75 kilograms of opium and 113.86 kilograms of miscellaneous illegal substances, according to official reports.
The nationwide campaign represents a coordinated effort among various law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking across Pakistan. Security forces continue to conduct regular operations as part of the government's broader strategy to curb illegal drug trade within the country.
