A Lahore anti-terrorism court (ATC) declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Mian Aslam Iqbal, Hammad Azhar and others as proclaimed offenders in three arson cases on May 9.
ATC Judge Abhar Gul heard the police applications. In the petitions, the police claimed, "The accused had gone into hiding. The raids were carried out to arrest them, but they were not detained."
Prominent among those who were declared proclaimed offenders were Mian Aslam Iqbal, Hamad Azhar, Karamat Ali Khokhar, Murad Saeed, Hafiz Farhat Ahmad Khan Niazi, Zubair Khan Niazi, Hamid Raza, Imtiaz Mahmood and Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi.
The two cases had been registered against the accused at Sarwar Road police station, while one case had been registered at Model Town police station.
