The Lahore High Court (LHC) has announced a big decision to contain smog. It has ordered to suspend all commercial activities by 10pm.
Justice Shahid Karim of the LHC issued a written order on the petitions of citizens Haroon Farooq and others.
The court ordered the Lahore capital city police officer to implement the order to stop all commercial activities by 10pm. In the written order, the judge said that to control the smog, the chief minister's secretary should instruct the CCPO to take steps to control smog and the Lahore administration and the government should issue a notification regarding commercial activities.
A notification for two days a week of work from home should be issued to private institutions, including banks.

The court ordered the environment director general to seal the industrial units de-sealed due to pollution and also ordered action against the environment department officials who de-sealed the units.
The court asked for a report on the sealing of factories at the next hearing.
Last weekend, caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that schools, colleges and all educational institutes would remain closed in 10 districts of the province on Friday and Saturday amid the worsening air quality with the onset and prevalence of smog in Lahore and other districts of Punjab.
