The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested five suspected terrorists during intelligence-based operations in Punjab.
According to CTD officials, 179 intelligence-based operations were conducted in Pakpattan, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, and Sahiwal in which five terrorists were arrested.
They further said that an important commander of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), identified as Nadeem, was also arrested in Pakpattan.
Moreover, explosive material, five detonators, two hand grenades, two improvised explosive devices, weapons, and cash were seized from the arrested terrorists, they added.
The arrested terrorists were identified as Nadeem, Shehbaz, Khalid, Madni and Salman. They were allegedly planning to attack sensitive installations, CTD officials claimed.
This week, 769 combing operations were conducted during which 82 suspects were arrested, a CTD spokesperson said. During these operations, 31,250 were interrogated.
