Security forces killed two terrorists, including a high-value target, during an intelligence-based operation in the Timergara area of District Lower Dir, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
The operation was carried out on the night of April 10-11 after reports of the presence of militants in the area. According to ISPR, troops effectively surrounded and engaged the militants' hideout, leading to an intense exchange of fire.
Among the dead was Hafeezullah Kochwan, a wanted militant commander who was involved in several terrorist attacks targeting both security personnel and civilians. The government had announced a bounty of Rs. 10 million on him.
A sanitization operation is currently underway to clear the area of any remaining threats. The ISPR reaffirmed the resolve of Pakistan’s security forces to eliminate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
