The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert warning of heavy rains across the province during Ramadan, with showers expected in most districts from March 9 to 16.
According to a PDMA spokesperson, rain and snowfall are predicted in Murree, Galiyat, and other mountainous regions. The agency has urged residents to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel in extreme weather conditions.
PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia has instructed commissioners and deputy commissioners across Punjab to remain on high alert. Additionally, alerts have been issued to relevant departments, including WASA, Rescue 1122, the irrigation department, and the livestock dpartment, to ensure preparedness for any emergencies.
The forecast predicts significant rainfall in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, and Mandi Bahauddin. Lahore, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, and Toba Tek Singh are also expected to experience heavy showers.
Further down south, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Okara, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Layyah, and Bhakkar are also likely to receive rainfall.
Authorities have advised citizens to stay updated with weather forecasts, avoid traveling in hazardous conditions, and take necessary precautions to prevent any untoward incidents during the rainy spell.
