Pakistan witnessed on Friday a significant decline in weekly inflation, reaching its lowest level in seven years.
The inflation rate decreased by 0.36%, bringing the overall rate down to 0.44%. According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, the prices of 16 essential items recorded a decrease over the week.
However, nine items saw an increase in their prices. Notably, sugar, chicken, bananas, rice, cooking oil, ghee, and beef became more expensive.
Sugar prices rose by Rs4.93 per kilogram, with the average price increasing from Rs145.50 to Rs150.43 per kilogram. In various cities, sugar was sold between Rs145 and Rs160 per kilogram.
Meanwhile, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, eggs, chickpeas, lentils, and wheat flour became more affordable.
Prices for garlic, LPG, electricity, and timber also saw a decline.
The Federal Bureau of Statistics released the inflation data, shedding light on the mixed trend of price movements across the country.
