An Assistant Commissioner Saeed Manan was injured in a firing incident in the Boshehra area of Kurram district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to police, the assistant commissioner was in the area along with law enforcement to enforce a ceasefire when unidentified assailants opened fire, injuring him and three police officers. The injured were immediately shifted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, tribal elders have gathered at the Commissioner House to participate in a grand jirga aimed at resolving tensions and ensuring the implementation of a peace agreement in Kurram.
The jirga is being attended by Adviser on Information Barrister Saif, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, the Inspector General of Police, representatives from both sects, and key jirga members.
The discussions are focused on restoring lasting peace in Kurram, ensuring safe travel, and implementing law and order measures, including the surrender of illegal weapons.
Also present at the meeting are GOC Kohat Major General Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, Kohat Division Commissioner Syed Moatasim Billah Shah, RPO Kohat Abbas Majeed Marwat, and other senior military and district officials.
