Ayesha Ayaz, a celebrated taekwondo athlete from Swat, visited the Frontier Corps North headquarters at Fort Bala Hissar, where she was honored for her contributions to sports and her role in elevating Pakistan’s name on the global stage.
Ayesha, often referred to as the "Pride of Swat," began her taekwondo journey at the tender age of three and made her international debut at just eight. She gained recognition in 2019 by securing a bronze medal at the Fujairah Open Taekwondo Championship in Dubai and followed it up with a gold medal at the same championship in 2020.
During her visit, Ayesha and her father met Major General Anjum Riaz, Inspector General of Frontier Corps (North). Major General Riaz commended her achievements and presented her with a special award in acknowledgment of her efforts in representing Pakistan internationally.
In a significant gesture of support, IGFC North announced the continuation of sponsorship for Ayesha to participate in this year’s Taekwondo Championship in Singapore, echoing the support provided to her last year. Ayesha expressed her gratitude to Frontier Corps North for their unwavering backing of her sporting journey.
This visit and the ensuing sponsorship underscore the growing recognition of young athletes like Ayesha, who continue to shine on international platforms while bringing pride to Pakistan.
