Pakistan is making significant strides in advancing its IT sector through a series of government-led initiatives facilitated by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). These efforts aim to enhance technical expertise among youth and address the industry's evolving demands.
As part of the initiative, the government has launched a new ICT training portal to equip graduates with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. The portal focuses on high-demand areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity, providing practical experience to participants.
In a notable development, the Ministry of IT and Huawei have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to foster collaboration. This agreement will enable graduates to gain hands-on training in advanced technologies and improve their prospects in the job market. Huawei has also pledged to support the establishment of modern training programs and centers, including potential expansions to Karachi and beyond.
The SIFC-backed training programs also include a three-year internship initiative designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. Through this program, young professionals can work directly with IT companies, gaining exposure to real-world challenges and solutions.
Additionally, Huawei has partnered with COMSATS University Islamabad to enhance technical training opportunities, marking another step toward building a sustainable IT talent pipeline in Pakistan.
These collaborative efforts are expected to contribute significantly to Pakistan’s economic growth and technological advancement. Expanding the scope of training programs across the country remains a priority to ensure that a broader audience can benefit from these opportunities.
Experts view this partnership-driven approach as a strategic move to position Pakistan as a competitive player in the global IT landscape while creating job opportunities for the nation’s youth.
