A police Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) came under fire near the Balishkhel check post in Lower Kurram, police reported.
According to officials, the attackers opened fire when the APC did not stop for inspection.
Police responded with retaliatory fire, and fortunately, no casualties were reported in the exchange.
SHO Fazal Kareem and other police personnel were present in the vehicle at the time of the attack.
Local tribes claimed they suspected the APC was being used to transport supplies for a rival tribe, prompting the shooting.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances and motives behind the attack.
