The internet is ablaze with speculation about the design of the iPhone 17 Pro following a recent leak from the iPhone supply chain.
According to reports, the next-generation iPhone will feature a rectangular camera bump, diverging from the square bump used in previous models.
In addition, the frame of the phone may be made of a mix of aluminium and glass, with rumours of the titanium material being abandoned for the Pros.
The leak, which surfaced on Weibo, shows an image of what is claimed to be a bare iPhone 17 Pro frame. The cameras will reportedly be placed in the upper portion of the device, with the ultra-wide lens positioned in the middle to allow space for Face ID hardware.
The Leakster Digital Chat Station has also shared a speculative render of the phone, which shows a large hole in the bottom frame covered by glass to facilitate wireless charging and NFC signals.
What has raised the most concerns, however, is the placement of the camera island, which resembles the "visor" seen in Google's Pixel phones.
This design may make it difficult for users to hold the phone horizontally without covering the cameras. While Apple is known for its ergonomic designs, this potential change has many questioning whether the company has made a design misstep.
As the iPhone 17 Pro is still about a year away, it remains to be seen if this is a failed prototype or the final product.
