Pushpa 2: The Rule, the highly anticipated sequel to Pushpa: The Rise, has surpassed expectations at the global box office, amassing an extraordinary Rs1760 crore in total gross earnings.
The film, which features Allu Arjun in the titular role - alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, continues to make waves, even as it enters its fourth week of release.
Despite experiencing a noticeable dip in collections on its fourth Monday (December 30), the film's performance remains impressive, with early estimates suggesting a net collection of Rs 6.65 crore on day 26.
Although this represents the lowest earnings for the film to date, the cumulative total stands at a staggering Rs1163.65 crore across all languages.
Record-breaking performance
The film’s success has been nothing short of remarkable, especially in the domestic market. Pushpa 2 has broken records previously held by other major blockbusters, including Prabhas' Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The film has not only set a new benchmark for Telugu-language cinema but has also gained massive popularity in the Hindi-speaking regions, with its Hindi version grossing Rs 758.65 crore, far outpacing its Telugu counterpart, which has earned Rs 326.31 crore.

In addition to the Telugu and Hindi versions, the film has performed admirably in other regional languages. The Tamil version has grossed Rs 56.95 crore, while the Malayalam and Kannada versions have accumulated Rs 14.12 crore and Rs 7.62 crore, respectively. This widespread success across linguistic and regional boundaries underscores the pan-India appeal of Pushpa 2.
Competition looms but Pushpa 2 holds strong
Despite facing competition from newer releases like Baby John and Mufasa: The Lion King, Pushpa 2 has remained dominant in the box office race. The film’s popularity can be attributed to its compelling storytelling, high-octane action sequences, and stellar performances by the cast. Allu Arjun's portrayal of the titular character has captivated audiences, contributing significantly to the film's success.
The production house, Mythri Movie Makers, took to social media to celebrate the milestone, expressing gratitude to fans for their overwhelming support. The film’s worldwide gross has now comfortably placed it in the race to challenge Baahubali 2’s record. With the New Year's break approaching, it is anticipated that Pushpa 2 may see another surge in collections before it faces heightened competition from fresh releases in 2024.
As of now, Pushpa 2 has firmly established itself among the top-grossing films of 2024, reaffirming the strength of Indian cinema and its ability to produce content that resonates with audiences across the country. The film's success is not only a testament to the power of Allu Arjun's stardom but also to the appeal of strong, well-executed narratives that transcend language barriers.
