The joint investigation team (JIT) formed under the federal government has issued notices to four more individuals for allegedly spreading false propaganda on social media.
The individuals summoned include Sardar Azhar Tariq Khan, Siraj Ahmed, Asif Rashid, and Muhammad Arshad, who have been called to appear before the JIT on December 16.
The JIT has already summoned seven other individuals through notices. These individuals, including Sibghatullah Virk, Muhammad Arshad, Attaur Rehman, Azhar Mashwani, Uroosa Nadeem Shah, Komal Afridi, and M Ali Malik, were scheduled to appear before the JIT on December 13.
The federal government constituted the JIT under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and tasked it with curbing crimes related to social media misuse. The team, operating under the inspector general (IG) of Islamabad police, is investigating the motives behind the accused and their associates.
According to officials, the JIT possesses solid evidence implicating the individuals in activities aimed at creating chaos in the country through malicious propaganda.
