A new chapter in the IT development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) was written with the inauguration of the Software Technology Park (STP) in Bhimber.
The park, established with the support of the Special Communications Organization (SCO), aims to foster a vibrant IT ecosystem in these regions, enabling youth empowerment and technological growth.
The inauguration ceremony was formally conducted by the Director General of SCO, marking a significant milestone in the region's digital transformation. The establishment of the Bhimber STP aligns with SCO's vision to create a sustainable IT environment in AJK and GB, providing opportunities for local youth to engage in technology-driven careers.
This new park is the 21st project under SCO's broader plan to establish 50 software technology parks and freelancing hubs across AJK. So far, the Bhimber STP has attracted six startups and 24 freelancers, signaling the growing interest in the area’s technological opportunities.
With the launch of the Software Technology Park, SCO is taking a step closer to its vision of transforming AJK and GB into key IT hubs by 2025. The initiative not only promotes entrepreneurship but also helps create a digital ecosystem that can provide long-term economic benefits for the region.
