Karachi Safari Park suffered a tragic loss as Sonia, one of its elephants, passed away suddenly last night. According to park sources, the staff discovered her lifeless body upon arriving at the park this morning.
Sonia was one of two elephants originally residing at the Safari Park, alongside Malika. Just a few days ago, another elephant, Madhubala, was relocated from the Karachi Zoo to the Safari Park.
The unexpected death of Sonia has left park authorities and visitors shocked. An investigation into the cause of her sudden demise is underway, with veterinary experts expected to conduct a thorough post-mortem examination to determine the exact reasons behind her death.
Sonia’s passing highlights the need for rigorous care and oversight in maintaining the well-being of animals in captivity.
"Four elephants were brought from Africa in 2009," says Safari Park Director.
Amjad Zaidi, the Director of Safari Park, stated that Noor Jehan passed away in March 2023 due to illness.
"The cause of Sonia's death will be determined after a post-mortem examination," added Amjad Zaidi, Director of Safari Park.
