The Cabinet Division has officially announced a public holiday on November 9 to observe Iqbal Day, which is celebrated in honour of the birth of the national poet, Allama Iqbal.
The notification issued by the Cabinet Division confirms that all government offices, institutions, and schools will remain closed on this day.
Earlier, the Kot Addu deputy commissioner issued a holiday notification declaring Friday, November 8, a public holiday across the district due to the Thal Jeep rally.
The decision aims to facilitate residents and visitors participating in or attending the highly anticipated rally.

The Thal Jeep Rally is an annual event that draws off-road enthusiasts from across the country. It showcases thrilling desert racing and promotes tourism in the region.
On Wednesday, the Punjab Environment Department issued a notification closing all educational institutions across various districts in the province.

As per the directive from the Punjab environment DG, schools, colleges, and other educational institutions, both private and public, will remain closed for in-person classes up to Class XII and A Levels.
The closure will be effective from November 7 to 17.
The notification states that all educational institutions would shift to online classes during this period to ensure the continuity of education. This decision applies to multiple districts, including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, and Narowal.
