Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has deemed the New Zealand’s triumph over India as “monumental”.
Expressing his thoughts, Chopra said: “New Zealand have outplayed India in both batting and bowling departments. They [New Zealand] have played the Indian fast bowlers and spinners pretty well.”
“Even their fast bowlers and spinners have bowled much better,” he said.
Chopra had voiced his concerns over Indian batters’ approach to playing against spinners. “Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh play the spin much better than us [India]. We need to address the problems in this regard.”
He acknowledged Yashasvi Jaiswal’s approach against spin bowling.
Speaking about the performances of the Indian batting bigwigs, Chopra said: “Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli really need to perform in the all-important Border–Gavaskar Trophy.
