Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said on Wednesday that there is no chance of polarization in the judiciary.
Reacting to the appointment of Justice Yahya Afridi as the next chief justice of Pakistan, Iqbal said: “There was a need to appoint the minimally controversial chief justice in the Supreme Court.”
“The chief justice who was needed to spearhead had been appointed in the apex court,” he added.
Underlining the appointment of judges in the United States and India, Iqbal said: “It is up to the Congress to approve the appointment of the judges in the US. Meanwhile, it is up to the parliament to appoint judges in the parliament.”
“The lawmakers in India can even hold the judges accountable,” he added.
