As the Lahore police sought the arrest of PTI leader Asad Umar and two sisters of PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the cases of May 9 violent incidents, an anti-terrorism court of Lahore extended their interim bails.
The interim bails of Asad Umar and Aleema and Uzma Khan were extended till October 16. The court also summoned the lawyers for final arguments in the Lahore Corps Commander House vandalism and arson case.
During the proceedings on the bail pleas, Uzma Khan sought justice, saying they were attending the proceedings daily. “If sending us to jail will be justice, then so be it,” she remarked.
She was then stopped by her lawyer, Burhan Muazzam, from speaking further. “We’re only asking for justice,” Aleema added.
Earlier, the police had sought the arrest of the three, saying they had been found guilty during investigation.
The investigation officer said the joint investigation team had mentioned Asad Umar, Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan as guilty, adding that the police needed their arrest for further probe.
The officer further said Aleema Khan was found present at the scene. However, her lawyer Burhan said Aleema and Uzma Khan were not nominated in the case.
He further asked for the statement on the basis of which his clients had been found guilty.
