The water crisis has worsened in Karachi’s Central District, leaving residents in several areas including North Karachi, Shadman, and Bufferzone at the mercy of the notorious tanker mafia.
The residents in these areas are forced to wait as long as 21 days for water supply, which is only available for a brief 24-hour window.
The dire situation has left many unable to afford expensive water tankers, raising concerns about how families will continue to survive without basic access to water.
"We can't afford water tankers. How are we supposed to get by?" one resident from Makin, North Karachi, voiced in frustration.
The mounting pressure has led to protests on Saturday, where residents gathered to demonstrate against the illegal hydrants contributing to the ongoing crisis.
The tanker mafia remains an unchecked force, profiting from the suffering of Karachi’s citizens, while the city's water infrastructure fails to meet basic needs.
