Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, both potentially on the verge of transfers from their Italian clubs, have been called up for Nigeria's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda next month.
The Super Eagles' squad announcement on Wednesday also included recalls for William Ekong, Ola Aina, and Taiwo Awoniyi, who are set to return to the team after missing the 2026 World Cup qualifiers due to injuries. The qualifiers kick off in Uyo on September 7 with a match against Benin, followed by a game in Rwanda three days later.
Osimhen, currently a target for Chelsea, and Lookman, linked with moves to Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, could leave Napoli and Atalanta, respectively, before Friday's transfer deadline. The Super Eagles will begin training in Uyo on Monday under new German coach Bruno Labbadia, whose appointment was confirmed earlier this week.
