An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Tuesday extended 14-day judicial remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) women including Khadija Shah, Aliya Hamza, and others arrested in the Jinnah House vandalism case.
The ATC duty judge, Arshad Javed, heard the case after the police produced the suspects before the court.
The police told the court that the investigation report of the case has been prepared and is ready to be submitted.
The court ordered to extend the judicial remand of the suspects to allow the police to complete the investigation and submit the challan.
The Jinnah House burning case was registered by the Sarwar Road police station on May 9, 2023, following the vandalization of the historic building during protests following the arrest of PTI chief Imran Khan.
The protesters set fire to the building which caused extensive damage.
On September 25, Lahore police rearrested several PTI women just hours after they were released from Kot Lakhpat Jail on the orders of Lahore ATC.
The women who were arrested again included Sanam Javed, Afshan Tariq, Ashmiya Shuja, and Shah Bano.
An ATC on September 23 ordered the release of Sanam Javed and other PTI activists in Jinnah House attack case that occurred on May 9.
The court approved their bail pleas against surety bonds worth Rs0.1 million each.
The jail authorities freed the political workers today upon receiving court order. However, they were arrested again as they were leaving the jail premises.
