Lionel Messi will be absent from Argentina's upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Colombia due to an ankle injury.
According to details, Messi, who has not featured for Inter Miami since the Copa America final, will be replaced by Roma forward Paulo Dybala, who has been recalled to coach Lionel Scaloni's squad.
Dybala, who has not played for Argentina since March 2023, could see action as he returns to the international stage. Argentina will also be without Angel Di Maria, following the veteran winger's retirement from international football.
The reigning World Cup champions are currently leading the South American qualifiers for the 2026 tournament, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The top six teams from the 10-nation table will secure automatic spots in the finals.
Argentina will face Chile at home on September 6 and then travel to Barranquilla to play against Colombia on September 10.
