Pakistan's Ambassador to Oman has confirmed that four Pakistani nationals were martyred during an attack at the Ali bin Abi Talib Imambargah in Muscat on Tuesday.
Ambassador Imran Ali stated that the Pakistani victims displayed immense bravery and sacrificed their lives while trying to save others during the assault. "Our brave Pakistani martyrs were not specifically targeted in the attack but became victims while heroically saving others," he remarked, adding that the Pakistanis got out on the street to prevent the attack.

Currently, around 25 Pakistanis who sustained injuries in the attack are receiving medical treatment, the ambassador said, with two or three reported to be in serious condition. The ambassador assured that efforts are underway to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured.
Ali further clarified that the attackers involved in the incident did not belong to Pakistan, emphasizing that it was not a targeted attack against Pakistani nationals.

Highlighting the cooperation extended by Omani authorities, Ambassador Imran Ali expressed gratitude for their swift response and support in handling the aftermath of the tragic event. He mentioned that arrangements are being made to repatriate the bodies of the martyred Pakistanis back to their homeland within the next couple of days.
The militant Islamic State group claimed responsibility on Tuesday for an assault on an Imambargah in Oman that left at least nine people dead, including three attackers, a rare security breach in the oil-producing Gulf state.

Four Pakistanis, an Indian, and a police officer were among those killed in the gun attack, according to Pakistani, Indian and Omani officials. The Oman police said 28 people of various nationalities were wounded, including security personnel.
The attack began on Monday evening at the Ali bin Abi Talib mosque in the Wadi al-Kabir neighbourhood of Oman's capital Muscat, authorities said, 500 metres from an international school and an adjacent skateboard park and less than 10 kilometres from a string of five-star beach resorts.
