Governor Sindh Kamran Tesori has announced a series of welfare measures aimed at improving the health and well-being of schoolchildren in Karachi.
Supported by a local welfare organization, the governor revealed plans for free medical check-ups in schools and the provision of daily breakfasts to children across hundreds of schools in the city.
During a visit to the office of the private welfare organisation, Governor Kamran Tesori was accompanied by Federal Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
Speaking to the media, the governor emphasized his commitment to ensuring that no child in Karachi goes to school hungry. He announced that a website will be launched next week to register deserving students from government schools, enabling them to benefit from these initiatives.
Governor Tesori also revealed plans to renovate 10 dilapidated schools, transforming them into model schools.
Additionally, he highlighted the start of a food security program aimed at providing meals to street children. He called for community support in these efforts and reiterated the commitment to conducting free medical examinations in schools.
MQM leader Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui praised Governor Tesori for his proactive approach, noting that the governor is working beyond his mandate to address critical issues.
“Yesterday, we made a decision, and today it is turning into a major initiative,” Dr. Siddiqui said. He also mentioned the ongoing efforts to improve schools and eliminate the need for children to earn a living, allowing them to focus on their education.
