In a move to modernise livestock trading and provide greater convenience to the public, the Punjab government has unveiled Pakistan's first e-cattle market app in preparation for Eidul Azha .
This innovative platform allows citizens to purchase sacrificial animals online, revolutionizing the traditional market experience.
All you need to know about app
The newly launched e-cattle market app offers a comprehensive and user-friendly interface where buyers can browse through an extensive database of sacrificial animals.
The app provides photos and videos of each animal, detailed information on weight, and prices, with the added convenience of direct communication with dealers.
Ibrahim Tariq Shafi, Chairman of the Punjab Cattle Market Management & Development Company (PMMDC), emphasized the benefits of the app, stating, "Through this app, citizens can now order the animal of their choice without having to visit crowded markets. This initiative will not only reduce congestion but also save time and petrol."
Features and secure transactions
One of the standout features of the app is the ability for users to set their desired price range through a price filter, allowing for more tailored search results. Once an animal is selected, vendors can contact buyers directly, enhancing the personalized experience.
To protect consumers from potential fraud, the app ensures that payments are made only after the buyer has received and approved the animal. This secure transaction process has been widely welcomed by the public, offering a layer of safety and reassurance during transactions.
Impact and public reception
Since its launch, the Punjab Cattle Market Management & Development Company has seen its business grow from Rs 3 billion to an impressive Rs 14 billion, reflecting its rapid acceptance and success.
The public has responded positively to the e-cattle market, appreciating the convenience and the ability to avoid crowded market visits, especially in the context of ongoing health concerns.
Shafi further highlighted the app's broader implications, noting that it represents a significant step towards digital transformation in Pakistan. "This initiative marks a significant step forward in integrating technology with traditional practices, setting a precedent for future digital innovations in the country," he remarked.
As the platform gains popularity, it is expected to significantly reduce the physical rush in cattle markets during the festive season, contributing to better management of public spaces and resources.
The e-cattle market app not only streamlines the process of purchasing sacrificial animals but also enhances overall user convenience, marking a milestone in Pakistan's digital journey.
