British actress Kate Beckinsale has finally addressed the reasons behind her hospitalisation earlier this year.
In the comments of a now-deleted Instagram post, the 50-year-old actress responded to a critic who claimed she looked "too thin." Beckinsale revealed she spent six weeks in the hospital due to severe health issues, including a Mallory Weiss tear caused by stress, and a flare-up of her mast cell disease.
Beckinsale shared that her hospitalisation was compounded by the grief of losing her stepfather, Roy Battersby, and the trauma from her father's early death. She expressed her frustration with ongoing comments about her appearance, emphasising the toll of such insidious bullying.
She also addressed rumours about cosmetic surgery, confirming that she has not undergone any procedures and critiquing the persistent scrutiny she faces.
Beckinsale initially announced her hospitalisation in March without detailing the cause, expressing gratitude for her mother's and friends' support.
