Two Chinese nationals were saved from drowning while working on the Mangla Dam site in Jhelum.
Reports suggest that, without warning, water was unexpectedly released from the Mangla Dam, leading to a sudden surge in the Jhelum River. The rise in water levels left the Chinese workers stranded and at risk of drowning.
Police officials said that the Chinese workers were carrying out some electrical work, when they suddenly got entrapped due to the release of water from the Mangla Dam into Jhelum River.
However, a rescue team and police intervened and prevented a potential tragedy. Swift action was taken to evacuate the Chinese workers from the dam.

"The situation was critical as the water levels rose rapidly, trapping the workers. Our priority was to ensure their safety," stated a member of the rescue team involved in the operation.
The workers were rescued and moved to a safe location.
The Mangla police said that a Chinese company was working at the Mangla Dam site and fixing an electricity pole in the river when suddenly water was released from the dam into the river, trapping two Chinese workers.
The divers of Rescue 1122 also participated in this operation. After the operation was completed, the Chinese nationals also thanked the rescue and Mangla police teams for their timely response.
A few days ago, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong and discussed the security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan. They also talked about progress in the investigation into the Bisham incident, in which Chinese nationals were killed.

Naqvi vowed that those responsible for the Bisham incident would ultimately meet a terrible end. He informed the Chinese ambassador that stringent standard operating procedures (SOP) implementation was being ensured, and that new measures would be formulated for the protection of Chinese nationals throughout Pakistan.
The minister informed the ambassador that he had met the consul generals at the Chinese consulates in Karachi and Lahore, who conveyed their contentment with the security measures implemented for the Chinese nationals.
Earlier, in April, the interior minister directed the authorities concerned to ensure foolproof measures to protect Chinese citizens. He gave these instructions while presiding over a meeting convened at the Ministry of Interior to address security concerns regarding Chinese citizens residing in Pakistan.
During the meeting, Naqvi emphasized the paramount importance of protecting foreign nationals, particularly Chinese citizens, residing in Pakistan. He stressed the need for foolproof security measures to safeguard their well-being and ensure their peace of mind while in the country.
