It has been a year since Noorjahan, the male elephant of Karachi Zoo passed away, and since then female elephant Madhubala has been living in solitary confinement in Karachi Zoo.
Madhubala has neither found a partner nor been transferred to a safari park amid. The only male elephant of Karachi Zoo Noor Jahan passed away due to alleged mismanagement and negligence of Karachi Zoo.
It was decided to shift the elephant but the process met at a slow pace due government's lack of interest in building an international-style sanctuary as recommended by the Four Paws.
Several citizens visiting the zoo are also saddened by Madhubala's condition. Senior Zoo Director Qaqibal Nawaz says that Madhubala will soon be between Malika and Sonu.
Dr. Amir Khalil, a member of Four Paws told SAMAA TV that the transfer of Madhubala would be done in the future to Safari Park for better conservation and a memorandum of understanding has also been signed.
