The weather in most parts of the country is expected to remain dry on Eid, however, some regions in Potohar and Azad Jammu and Kashmir may see rain over the next one to two days.
In conversation with Samaa TV, Dr Babar, director of the Meteorological Department, has predicted a gradual increase in temperatures in the coming days, particularly in the plains where hotter conditions are anticipated.
On the other hand, Kashmir and Potohar are likely to experience partly cloudy conditions, with a chance of thundershowers in higher elevations.
However, concerns arise as the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) warns of an unusual increase in heat intensity throughout April.
The PDMA spokesperson highlights that temperatures are projected to surpass the average of the last 30 years, potentially leading to heatwaves, particularly in the plains of Punjab. The effects of these heatwaves are expected to be more pronounced in major cities.
Also, adverse weather phenomena such as strong winds, dust storms, torrential rain, and hail are also likely.
In response to the alert issued by the PDMA, commissioners and deputy commissioners across Punjab have been placed on high alert to monitor and mitigate the potential impacts of the impending heatwave.
