In a move to ease the burden on masses during the holy month of Ramadan, the Punjab government and Poultry Association have reached an agreement to reduce chicken prices.
Open markets will see a decrease of Rs 10 rupees kilogram, while Model Bazaars will benefit from a steeper discount of Rs 25 per kilogram. This reduction will be implemented immediately.
Separately, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif conducted a surprise visit to Johar Town’s Model Bazaar upon returning from work.
During her inspection, she meticulously assessed the prices of fruits, vegetables, and groceries. Engaging with women shoppers, she empathetically inquired about their experiences and concerns, reflecting a genuine concern for the citizens' welfare.
Acknowledging the challenges faced during Ramadan, the Chief Minister expressed her commitment to addressing the needs of the less privileged. She attentively listened to the grievances of elderly buyers, particularly regarding the sudden surge in prices of essential fruits for their traditional Ramadan recipes.
As news of her presence spread, a sizable crowd gathered at the Ramadan Bazaar, expressing support and admiration through chants and slogans. Chief Secretary Zahid Zaman Akhtar also accompanied her during the visit, underscoring the government's dedication to addressing citizens' needs at the grassroots level.
