Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, addressing a passionate crowd at an election rally, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and acknowledged the sentiments of the people, stating that victory appears to be their destiny.
Addressing an election rally in Dera Ismail Khan on Monday, Rehman, who is contesting the upcoming general elections from the NA-38 constituency, accused his opponents of lying and spreading misinformation about his party. He also pledged to continue working to uplift the region if elected.
Emphasizing the ideological foundations of Jamiat's politics, Maulana Fazlur Rehman critiqued opponents who misinterpret the essence of political service.
Rehman began his speech by thanking the crowd for their support, saying that their enthusiasm showed that victory was his destiny. He then defended his party's record, saying that JUI-F practiced "ideological politics" and that serving the people was their true goal.
"These people do not understand the meaning of politics," he said. "When we go towards power, they say that we are running after power. The meaning of politics is not to lie but to serve."
The JUI-F chief went on to criticize the previous government, saying that they had failed to deliver on their promises. He also accused them of being funded by foreign powers. "We exposed their fraud," Rehman said. "I don't say such things for nothing. We have to talk about Pakistan's independence."
Rehman then turned his attention to his own plans for the future, if elected. He promised to continue working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and to build a regional cargo airport in Dera Ismail Khan. He also pledged to build a motorway from Dera to Peshawar and to make the Gomal Medical College a medical university. "All these facilities have to be done to uplift the region," he said.
Rehman's speech was met with cheers and applause from the crowd. It remains to be seen whether his promises will be enough to win him the election, but his speech showed that he is a passionate and determined leader.
