Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar said on Sunday that his government was taking steps to control inflation.
Expressing his thoughts, PM Kakar said, "We took all-out steps to revive the economy. We launched a crackdown against smuggling.''
"The dollar demand decreased following the crackdown on the smuggling of dollars," he said.
"With the enforcement of the law, the dollar had dropped to Rs280. The difference should come in the interest rate of the central bank," said PM Kakar.
"Hopefully, with the formation of the new government, the interest rate will be reduced," he said.
Speaking about the International Monetary Fund (IMF), PM Kakar said: "We had tackled the matter in line with the negotiations with the IMF professionally."
PM Kakar said, "The government had a clear stance against the terrorist groups”.
Speaking about the general elections, the interim premier said: “The claims in line with the delay in elections turned out to be wrong. We will hand over the government to the elected representatives. The new government, when it comes, should ponder various points," he added.

Few days back, PM Kakar said that the government had no plan to suspend the social media platforms during the forthcoming elections, slated to happen on February 8.
