A huge fire broke out in the Infectious and Outpatient Department (IOPD) of Multan's Nishtar Hospital on Monday (today), erupting panic and chaos.
Hospital officials reported that the blaze was caused by a short circuit in IOPD room number 6, leading to the immediate evacuation of patients and staff.
Witnesses reported seeing thick plumes of smoke billowing from the affected room, with flames quickly spreading to other areas within the IOPD.
Firefighters were called to the scene promptly, and they extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading further within the hospital.
As a result of the fire, the hospital management decided to temporarily close the OPD until further notice.
Patients who were in the process of receiving treatment were either discharged or transferred to other areas of the hospital.
No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
